“The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done; men and women who are creative, inventive and discoverers, who can be critical and verify, and not accept, everything they are offered.” Jean Piaget
As a young educator who will venture out into the system soon, I believe that it is my job to find the most suitable methods and resources to cater to the needs of the students. The best way to do this is with the use of technology. We are now in an age where everything around us is being influenced by technology in some way or the other. I believe that it is therefore critical to utilize technology in the teaching profession. As a 21st century educator who is going out into the classroom soon, I plan to use all the knowledge I have garnered in the educational technology course as well as from other pupils in this area. I also plan to keep up with all the latest trends and innovations in technology and integrate them in the classroom. This generation is engrossed in technology, they use it on a regular basis and what better way reach a generation that is technologically inclined, than by using the thing they are all use to. I’m of the belief that students should be taught using the technology available to us today. In order to develop creative and critical thinkers. With technology the possibilities are endless and the use of technology can make the classroom engaging, fun and interesting. It is however, important to note that technology is not just a tool for student’s engagement but its application in real world makes it worth using in education. |
